Cedar Creek, December 10, 2005
Well, I have some tough customers and I had a blast with them this past Saturday. This cold brisk morning I had repeat customers, Sam, AL and Brian. Don once again came to my aid and decked for me until around 1pm when he had to leave to take care of a family commitment.
Fishing was really very tough today, but it was a lot of fun. I fished a lot of spots and we managed to catch a few fish off of almost all of them. It is almost more like a summer pattern. We would pull up on a hump and catch 6 to 10 fish and then they would just disappear! WEIRD!
Usually the fish are moving so little that when you get on them you can stay on them.
The fish came on a variety of baits, Burgess Baits in Bobby's "Avocado" was a killer and then the Bass Pro Shops XPS spoon and another good bait was Lead Babies in gold metal flake with both shapes doing equally well, minnow or shad.
The fish were caught anywhere from 16 to 22 feet deep and the bite is very subtle. I suggest you use 6-8 lb golden Stren so you can see the bite as well as feel it and you better be quick! Our catch would have probably been close to double if we had caught everyone of the fish that bit.
Well at about dark we headed back to the s=dock and found we had just missed out on some great Hybird action - oh well you can't be everywhere!
We finished the day by drifitng cut shad through where the Hybrids and Sandies had been and wound up catching one small 2lb Blue and another one that went somewhere between 35 and 40 pounds, which was released to fight another day. We also had in the box 40 typical fall Magnum sandies that Cedar Creek is notorious for this time of year.
I have one more trip this year and then I am going duck hunting!
Merry Christmas and God Bless you all! If I can every help any of you just call or email me.
From the crew - Omar, Don and Bobby
E-mail me if I can be of any use or help to you in anyway.
