This was a good day!
I slept in until around 7:30 got up and then slept some more and then finally got to the lake around 11. Headed to the first spot and started catching fish off of Pitts Point almost immediately. I guess I should say Valerie (my Fiancé’) started catching them immediately. She caught some magnum White Bass for sure! It slowed down so I went to the A-frame and we caught a couple undersized Hybrids and then we moved to Merrimac.
We got into a great school there; we were both catching magnums and some yellow bass as well as one channel cat. The fish are biting very strange, in Crappie fishing circles I think they call them "bumpers"; the fish just bump the slab up ever so slightly. In the wind you really have to be paying attention and be quick!
Well we got within 10 of our limit of big ole CC Sandies and headed back to Pitts Point where we finished out our limit of 50. We had caught and released at least another 25 smaller fish, some of which were over 10". Valerie had caught 5 undersized Hybrids and the one channel cat. We, I mean I was at the dock cleaning fish by 2:30. She was sitting on the front deck relaxing. We wound up with 2 gallon bags full to the top.
All our fish came off the points in water ranging from 17 to 24 feet deep. The fish are hugging the bottom very tightly, so look for a "thick" bottom on your electronics. We moved our slabs very slowly and most of our fish came within a foot of the bottom. We used the Lead Babies PeeWee model in the Irish Special color. We tried black/gold and blue/silver but the Irish Special did the best.
It is a great time to get out there wherever and whoever you fish with, so get out and have some fun!
E-mail me if I can be of any use or help to you in anyway.
