Cedar Creek, September 18, 2005
I got a surprise call early Friday morning from an old friend who wanted to go fishing this weekend and he even offered to pay my regular rate.
I think some of you will remember Michael Storm from Lake Bridgeport fame from a few years back. Well he has really focused on his home building and dry wall business the last few years and is very successful at it.
Michael said he would be working on a lodge for Caney Cove and had some free time and wanted to get his wife Melanie and daughter Jessica on the water and catch some fish. I took them right back up the lake. We had hardly put the Hell/Pets in the water when Michael and Jessica yelled “Fish On”! Jessica is a very competitive angler. She kept count on how many she caught versus dad! I believe she lost count somewhere around 28 to 14! We finished a limit of 75 Sandies by around 3:30 and headed in.
Well you get two guides together and they really don’t know when to QUIT! After dropping off Jessica and Melanie, Michael and I decided to put the down riggers to use.
I hadn’t yet caught a Hybrid on them at Cedar Creek and decided to try the iron wall area and it was covered in nice fish, The majority however were not cooperative! We did manage to put 2 keepers in the box along with 2 smaller fish we threw back. It was great to put more fish in the hook for the first time. These fish came on peal Holiday Sassy Shads with dipped tails and Burgess shad heads in 1 ounce chartreuse.
I look forward to fishing with Michael and his family again in November.
E-mail me if I can be of any use or help to you in anyway.
