I got a call a few days prior from my friend and great guide Matt Cartwright. He had a trip he needed help with and asked me to help. Needless to say it was hot and unfortunately very still. Matt went one way and I went another. I began by trying to get some fish for my clients on Lead Babies slabs but could only catch small fish so then I began trolling the Hellbender and Pet Spoon Combo. WE had made several passes and caught some nice fish when my phone rang and Matt had found some very cooperative fish. I ran us up the lake where we caught several good fish on slabs. When that slowed I felt the fish were still in the area so I started trolling again and I was right. WE caught a lot of really nice fish for the next hour or so. Matt had told me that near sunset the bigger fish would likely school on the east end of the lake. I took us there a little before the appointed time and Matt and our clients began the waiting game and it was worth it!

The fish began schooling and we caught lots of big White Bass and Some very nice Hybrid Stripers on Bass Pro Shops new bait - The Squirmin’ Sardine. The fish just about inhaled this new bait on every cast. Our color of choice was Chartreuse over a Glo-Belly.

E-mail me if I can be of any use or help to you in anyway.
