Well, I watched the weather forecast Saturday night and decided to call my customer and let them decide if they wanted to try it or not. To my surprise they wanted to give it a shot. This was my first time to fish with Doug and Nancy Britain and it was a lot of fun even thought the weather was rough. I was originally to take out Doug and his son but the weekend before of course had proved too windy. So since Doug’s son wouldn’t wake up, Doug decided to take his lovely wife fishing for Mother’s Day instead.

I headed straight for the Key Ranch area and we weren’t there long, translation they were schooling when we got there. LOL I found out pretty quick that Nancy couldn’t cast too well so I would make the cast and hand her the rod. When she would get back close to the boat – usually with a fish, I would make another cast with a second rod and we would just exchange rods. This worked really well except Doug got jealous cause he had to do all his work himself. LOL

About the time they quit and I decided to head to Merrimac my Guardian Angel said GO IN! And to both of our surprise I DID! Just about the time we got under the stall at Fisherman’s Wharf it cut loose with a vengeance. We fished for Crappie and Black Bass under the marina while we waited without any success, but they seemed to be enjoying themselves.

When the weather finally cleared we went back out to the main point from Little Caney and proceeded to catch some nice Sandies and small Hybrids. I was feeling pretty “lucky” so I decided to make the run to Enchanted Isle again. We got there and immediately began catching Sandies again. They caught altogether probably 60 to 100 fish and keeping the largest 35. They would have kept their limit I am sure but any fish smaller than 12” they were releasing.

The water is in the upper 60’ and fairly clear with lots of fresh water coming in the fishing should even improve. Please be careful and don’t get caught in one of these

Good Luck from the Leprechaun!!

E-mail me if I can be of any use or help to you in anyway.
