First of all I am sorry this report is so late.

Secondly to all the other artificial fisherman, my apolpgies, but as a guide I have to fish the way my clients want and put fish in the boat!! LOL

This was a great day. My clients, Terry, Frank and Darren wanted to fish light tackle for Striper with live bait. I found bait in the Holiday Marina area early - like 4:30 am and had what I thought was plenty of bait by around 5:15 am. I had around 6-7 dozen good baits with another 3-4 dozen thrown in for chumming.
They showed up around 6:45 and we were on the water by around 7am. I tried the Tall Man area, Sun Point and then the dam. We were pretty well blanked everywhere except the dam where we caught one 19 inch Hybrid free swimming a shad.

By now it was around 10am to I decided to try the Wolf Cove Humps. I anchored in about 28 feet and we were throwing the free swimming shad off the back of the boat in around 22 feet of water. The chumming seemed to work here because by 12:30 we were completely out of baits with a good string of 4 Stripers and 2 Hybrids in the box with another 20 -30 small fish being released, 4 Magnum Sandies and about a dozen Catfish from 2 to 8 pounds. I then went looking for more bait and gave my client a lesson in cast net throwing. Bait was hard to come by so I trolled a Hellbender/Sassy Shad combo and put another 3 Stripers in the boat between 6 and 9 pounds. All in all a good day on the water. These guys had a blast catching these fish on medium light spinning rods with 10lb test. We had several more large fish get off, several break offs and one fish that melted the gears in a reel before I could do anything about it. Sometimes you just have to go with what works not what you like.

Water temp is in the middle 60's with bait plentiful in the shallows (spawning time) before daylight both around Holiday and the 751 bridge. I couldn't talk them into slabbing for Sandies so I can't tell you much there. Tawakoni is on right now, course just a bout everywhere is.

E-mail me if I can be of any use or help to you in anyway.
