Today was a great trip! No we didn't "load the boat" or catch a world record but a dad, two sons and a grandson made some great memories.
Ken Boyd and sons Brian then Kyle, who is Lachlan's dad, and Ken's grandson Lachlan all decided to try and join me for a day of fishing. The wind made it extremely difficult to fish most of the lake. I thought the best place for us to possibly catch some fish was under the bridges for Crappie. The water was still very cold and the fish were pretty lethargic.
We tied up to several spots and then around 11 am Lachlan started to catch some fish. This youngster has all the makings of a great fisherman. He was patient and he listened very closely to everything his grandfather had to say about fishing.
The pictures say it all. The big smile and the laughter had by all was wonderful. I have to tell on myself, we probably would have caught more fish and stayed a little longer if I hadn't fallen in. I will make it up to them though.
Remember to carry extra clothes this time of year! Dry and warm clothes! The fish we caught were in around 19 to 21 feet of water and were caught on jigs and on minnows just off the bottome and moved very slowly, Chartreuse was the best color jig.
Give me a call and I promise to stay on the boat for your entire trip.
E-mail me if I can be of any use or help to you in anyway.
